EMC has continued to maintain certification to the revised ISO9001:2000 standard again this year following extensive audits conducted by the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS).
Dave Bache, Area Service Manager and Quality Management Representative for EMC, says that no non-conformities were raised on these audits, which was also the case in all assessment audits conducted to the new standard.
"The SABS ISO9001:2000 Standard, together with the `Eight Quality Management Principles`, fit our business objectives and the EMC culture of meeting our customers` needs and requirements."
These principles are the basis of the ISO9001: 2000 Quality Management System, as released by the International Organisation for Standardisation.
* Customer-focused organisation;
* Leadership;
* Involvement of people;
* Process approach;
* System approach to management;
* Continual improvement;
* Factual approach to decision-making; and
* Mutually beneficial supplier relationships.
"We found no difficulty in adapting our ISO9000:1994 Quality Management System to the revised standard, as our management system was process-based right from the start," says Bache. "We also found that the maturity of our 1994 system was such that we were already addressing the majority of the new requirements."
