EMC unveils content archiving suite

EMC has released a family of e-mail archiving and e-discovery applications that centrally manage multiple content types in order to apply consistent retention, disposition and overall life cycle management regardless of the hardware platform, reports Computer World.

Initially, EMC is rolling out three products aimed at e-mail archiving and discovery, but more content archiving and discovery products will follow over the next 12 to 18 months.

EMC claims SourceOne users can save more than 50% in total cost of ownership, and gain return on investment in as little as 12 months by reducing e-mail kept on primary storage systems, redundant attachments and lengthy, manual discovery processes.

The Companies and Intellectual Property Registration Office (Cipro) has awarded a R153 million tender for the implementation of a new enterprise content management (ECM) programme, says Engineering News.

The tender, which was the largest ever awarded by Cipro, was awarded to information and communication technology services provider Valor IT.

Valor IT will be responsible for the implementation of the ECM foundation by using service-oriented architecture, which would allow the two million entities on Cipro's books to be kept in a uniformed format that could be read by several different devices ranging from computers to cellphones, the organisation reported.

EPiServer's Web content management system with e-mail creation and management tools has been chosen to help Suunto, a manufacturer of sports precisions instruments, to enhance its Web site, states Business Wire.

EPiServer partner Tietotalo is the technical implementation partner for Suunto.com. Tietotalo's expertise in content management systems includes .NET-based systems such as EPiServer.
