Enjoy multiple displays from one PC with Matrox DualHead2GO from Axiz

Johannesburg, 20 Jan 2006

Leading IT infrastructure distributor, Axiz, has launched the Matrox DualHead2GO. It is a palm-sized box that connects to an existing monitor output of a computer, providing an extra display. With native support for resolutions of up to 2 560 x 1 024, the Matrox DualHead2GO is also compatible with certain notebooks and desktops that do not have available expansion slots.

"Constantly having to open and close applications can be cumbersome and time-consuming and makes multi-tasking difficult. With the adoption of a dual-display workspace, the work process is streamlined and the management of multiple documents is simplified," says Philip Henning, monitor, graphics and optical storage product manager at Axiz.

The Matrox DualHead2GO splits the 2 560 x 1 024 Microsoft Windows desktop into a left and right half, each of which is sent to two separate analogue monitors, allowing users to upgrade a workspace. Featuring native support for resolutions twice the width of standard resolutions, it provides users with access to masses of desktop real estate without having to pay the price for a super high-resolution monitor.

It harnesses the capabilities of a system`s GPU or integrated graphics for acceleration of all 2D, 3D and video conferencing functions, without any resulting image distortion or scaling to the original raw pixels generated from the existing graphics accelerator.

"Users can benefit with up to three displays of independent information at a time when using it in conjunction with the built-in display of a notebook or desktop," indicates Henning.

The Matrox DualHead2GO is bundled with Matrox PowerDesk SE; a suite of powerful window management software that offers users a wide range of unique-to-Matrox operational modes, utilities and display configurations for the optimal management of windows positioning and message pop-ups. It is compatible with a wide range of notebooks; however, desktop PC support for the Matrox DualHead2GO is limited to certain PCs based on integrated graphics.

"A free Matrox DualHead2GO compatibility utility is available online at www.matrox.com/graphics/dualhead2go, allowing users to pre-validate a system to ensure it is compatible with the device prior to purchase," indicates Henning.

The Matrox DualHead2GO will be available from Axiz in January 2006. For more information, contact Axiz on (011) 237 7000 or visit www.axiz.co.za.
