On the back of a visit from the President of Enterasys Networks EMEA, Gerard Vivier, the networking giant has announced its full support of the proposed local ICT BEE charter.
Says Martin May, regional director Enterasys Networks Africa: "The current scepticism around the ICT charter and the backlash from other US companies towards it is, in our opinion, totally unfounded. We believe that the charter is a positive move for our country and further proves, as a whole and as a nation, our commitment to democracy.
"Taking it one step further, we have received full commitment from the Enterasys executive team internationally who have also come out in support of the charter and have given the local operation a `thumbs up` on any business decisions that need to be made in support thereof."
Enterasys Networks is different to its US counterparts in that it has already made significant investments in the local market. These include the purchase of a shareholding in its biggest distributor Duxbury Networking, the Enterasys Lodge, and the Enterasys Offices, which the company has bought as opposed to `rented`. No other competitor can boast the current `asset` investment held by Enterasys.
According to May, the investments may be seemingly small, but they prove that the company is not afraid to demonstrate its dedication to the markets in which it operates, and the ICT charter is no different.
"There are a lot of positive aspects to the charter and it is our opinion that companies should be working together to find ways in which to support the efforts of the steering committee. Although we are still in the process of identifying where the greatest impact of further investment will be felt, with regards to the final charter we are definitely behind it," ends May.
