Enterprise Connection, the national black-owned IT infrastructure and software licensing provider, has further expanded its product offering by acquiring a 26% equity stake in DocQnet Systems International (Pty) Ltd. This follows its 25.1% black equity stake in the top .Net and BizTalk application developer, nVisionIT, last month.
DocQnet is a specialist electronic document management (EDM) company, offering document management, e-mail archiving and vaulting, and document delivery and distribution technologies. These products support the drive to improve efficiency, save costs and improve corporate governance in organisations. DocQnet`s products all operate within the Microsoft domain, which forms the core synergy between the two companies.
As a niche player in the EDM space, the company is unique in that it provides a total service in all aspects of the electronic document management and delivery and archiving, including e-mail management. The key differentiator is that DocQnet solutions can be totally integrated through pre-defined Application Program Interfaces (APIs) - considerably reducing the risk to the client of runaway costs and the potential of failure to integrate the different technologies.
The deal is expected to unlock significant value for the parties by leveraging their respective competencies, while delivering ever-greater benefits to their combined client and prospect bases.

We can provide value-added products on the back of Enterprise Connection`s offerings and serve their existing client base," says Mike Rolfe, Managing Director of DocQnet.

In the light of the recently promulgated Electronic Communications and Transaction (ECT) Act, which legitimises the storage of documents in an electronic (digitised) format, the partnership gains even more significance. The ECT Act has had a profound impact on corporate life and company laws are being adapted to cater for this change in policy and procedure.

Enterprise Connection has been offered two non-executive board positions on the DocQnet board and the companies will be working together closely on innovative developments for clients.
