LayerOne, the Nokia Intellisync and Option Wireless provider for South Africa, has announced that the company's contract revenue increased by 300% in the first five months of its current financial year.
LayerOne reports a rapid uptake of services in the mobile space, especially around its main solutions, which are Nokia Intellisync "push" e-mail and HSDPA data bundles with Intellisync e-mail for laptops.
LayerOne attributes the growth to the corporate market's growing demand for mobile solutions as well as the company's combination of services tailored to this market.
"LayerOne uses the same mobile technology as many of our competitors, but our services are built specifically for enterprise users," says Stuart Hardy, MD of LayerOne.
For example, Hardy says LayerOne's HSDPA solutions use the latest 7.2MB card technologies and allow companies to aggregate their Internet bundles through an online management interface.
"We align these products with very intelligent software like Intellisync for laptops to retrieve e-mail and other information automatically and securely from the company network. Most organisations cannot believe how well these services work and the value they add, even though they have been available for three or more years," he explains.
LayerOne believes the scepticism surrounding the value of mobile solutions should have been eliminated in the past year. "Thousands of successful implementations prove that mobility has a clear business value for the enterprise," says Hardy.
LayerOne specialises in delivering comprehensive mobile solutions that go beyond the last mile Internet connectivity on offer from most mobile network operators and providers of both fixed-line and wireless broadband.
"Incomplete or ineffective services are responsible for much of the negativity in the market around mobile solutions," says Hardy.
LayerOne's solutions are consequently aimed at satisfying enterprise requirements for secure access to company networks using a VPN client or synchronisation technologies like Intellisync.
"It's this seemingly small difference that is creating a large opportunity for us in the market," concludes Hardy.
