Enterprises move to support BYOD
A UXC Consulting survey claims that more than half of Australian businesses are in the early stages of implementing IT service management (ITSM) frameworks to support BYO computers.
“This survey demonstrates that Australian enterprise-level organisations recognise the increasing workforce demand to support the trend of BYO computing devices into the workplace,” explains UXC Consulting CEO Nick Mescher.
TechWorld says that according to the findings, 80% of Australian businesses already had IT infrastructure that could support smartphones, as these were considered to be less disruptive to a corporate IT environment than tablets.
Out of the 120 respondents, 68% worked for an enterprise with more than 1 000 people, while the remaining 32% worked for a company with 5 000 staff or more.
ITSM focuses on how well enterprise IT operations service their business end-users, who are increasingly using a mix of company-owned and personal computers, like netbooks and media tablets, for work, indicates PR Wire.
Mescher adds: “Unlike the deployment of smartphones, the enterprise is not looking for a quick add-on solution with BYO computing. They are considering the best ways to implement solutions into the existing ITSM framework, and facilitate support in the face of new and emerging IT trends.”
