Oracle Corporation is launching Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g and Oracle Database 11g Release 2, at Oracle Day on 6 October, in Johannesburg, and on 8 October, in Cape Town. The purpose of the event is to address business issues such as increased competition, business expansion and dynamic market conditions that require a continual response to change.
Sponsored by EOH, Oracle Day 2009 will offer IT business decision-makers a unique opportunity to meet with Oracle experts and colleagues to discuss how upgrading to the latest Oracle technologies can transform their business, budgets and service levels.
IT executives will learn how their Oracle solutions are putting their investments to work at every layer of the IT stack, from the database to middleware, or more specifically, services-oriented architecture, enterprise 2.0, business intelligence and security.
Says Andrew Krause, managing director, EOH Oracle Services Division, “There is no doubt that Oracle Corporation is the leader in most technology applications today and has captured the limelight in the middleware category. The adoption rate of Oracle Fusion Middleware has been rapid, and together with the improvement in customer experience, Oracle has most certainly secured even more markets.”
Andrew Sutherland, Senior VP EMEA Technology, and Chris Baker, Senior VP Core Technology Business at Oracle, will introduce the rich functionalities that Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g and Oracle Database 11g Release 2 can offer customers.
Sutherland explains: "Oracle Day is the most important event for the company and is one where we announce new Oracle technologies to holistically address companies' IT needs. For example, private cloud architected solutions such as Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g, can serve as a comprehensive platform for businesses and IT processes, connecting their strategy with success across a business enterprise.
"The cloud promise of fast deployment and elastic scaling is compelling for many enterprises. However, for most mission-critical enterprise solutions, questions of security and control rule out public cloud offerings. In these cases, an internally hosted private cloud is the optimal approach,” he says.
Baker's keynote will address how Oracle Database 11g is helping global organisations to reduce their computing costs through consolidation on enterprise grids, reduced storage requirements and eliminating idle redundancy.
He will demonstrate how Oracle Database 11g Release 2 includes enhanced ease of use features that make grid computing more accessible, compression enhancements that can deliver up to 20x compression ratios, and other industry firsts that now make it possible to upgrade database applications while users remain online.
Says Nicky Sheridan, Oracle Corporation, Vice President and Country Leader ZA: “Oracle Day is an opportunity for IT executives to learn how to become key enablers in driving down computing costs and improving IT quality of service in their organisation.”
