Epson unveils PowerLite G5000
Epson has introduced the Epson PowerLite G5000, the latest in Epson's line of installation projectors designed to provide flexibility, performance and easy installation for executive boardrooms and educational institutions, reports Computer Technology Review.
Offering XGA (Extended Graphics Array) resolution and 4 000 lumens white light output and 4 000 lumens colour light output, the network-ready PowerLite G5000 utilises 3LCD technology to deliver advanced image quality and visual presentations, Epson said in a statement.
The PowerLite G5000 provides easy installation using greater positioning flexibility with a centred lens design, vertical/horizontal lens shift mechanism, and Quick Corner, an adjustment tool allowing for individual corner manipulation to fit the image to the screen.
Next-gen Internet videophone released
British company Ccomms.com and Irish company Seecomms have released a new generation of audio-visual communication engines that promises to solve video congestion problems on the Internet, according to PR.com.
The calls are made via an Internet videophone that allows anyone with Internet access to have unlimited fast flicker-free crystal clear videocalls with anyone else on the Internet for just £1 (R14.70) per month.
Using new audio-visual compression engines (known as codecs) video drops in size by up to 50 times, reducing a typical single video frame of 15 000 bytes to 200 bytes and therefore being quick and flicker-free without loss of quality.
China to regulate 3G
The China State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) is considering requiring a separate licence for audio-visual programming offered on 3G handsets, reports JLM Pasific Epoch.
An insider close to SARFT and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology says the ministries are planning to release standards for 3G mobile TV.
Beijing-based online video portal LeTV.com VP, Liu Hong, says LeTV.com has won approval from SARFT for 3G audio-visual business, according to a qq.com report.
