Essbase just the ticket for Ticketmaster

Johannesburg, 31 May 1999

Ticketmaster has chosen Hyperion Essbase over Microsoft OLAP to minimise total cost of ownership of its reporting systems worldwide.

Ticketmaster is the world`s leading automated ticketing services company, selling over 70 million tickets a year through 2 900 retail ticket outlets, 29 worldwide telephone call centres and Ticketmaster`s Internet site. Ticketmaster serves more than 3 750 clients in the US, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Australia, including 85 professional sports franchises in the US and hundreds of leading arenas, stadiums, performing arts venues and theatres.

"While we chose Hyperion Essbase over Microsoft OLAP Services based on several factors, including cross-platform support, enterprise-class performance and scalability, extensive third-party integration, and the breadth of Hyperion tools, the key factor in our decision was total cost of ownership," says Vivek Kalra, national manager of Financial Systems for Ticketmaster.

"With Hyperion Essbase, Hyperion Enterprise and Hyperion tools, we`ve automated reporting systems to analyse and report on 3 700 clients worldwide, across more than 200 000 events each year. By standardising on Hyperion`s OLAP technology and packaged analytic applications, we are now analysing the business from different perspectives with an aim to increase the bottom line." Hyperion Essbase is distributed in South Africa by Global Technology Business Intelligence, a company in the JSE-listed Global Technology Group.
