Etisalat implements new DR service
Etisalat has completed the installation of a new high availability service from business continuity providers Neverfail, providing its Blackberry Enterprise Server customers with improved availability, reports ITP.net.
The NeverFail service is designed to continuously monitor an organisation's e-mail and data transfer environment while replicating information onto secondary servers.
In the event of an outage, Neverfail will either restart applications before they fail, automatically switch to a secondary server or alert IT personnel to prevent a loss of service. After the event is resolved, users are switched back to the main servers without administrative involvement.

IT-Lifeline, WBA produce webinars
IT-Lifeline has teamed with the Washington Bankers Association (WBA) to plan a series of educational webinars in response to new federal guidelines that recommend tighter restrictions on top executives of financial institutions for overseeing business continuity planning procedures, states Earthtimes.
The federal organisation that oversees business continuity planning (BCP) by financial institutions issued revisions in March to the handbook that instructs financial institutions on IT examination issues.
Jim Pishue, WBA president, said the new guidelines "make business continuity planning a critical element that should be carefully re-evaluated by all financial institutions."
