Etisalat steps up green efforts

In an attempt to encourage the adoption of green practices, Etisalat has rolled out its green ICT solutions for government in the UAE, reports Arabian Business.

Etisalat stresses how effective ICT solutions like automation, power management and virtualisation can not only increase organisations productivity, but also reduce the carbon footprint and energy consumption for businesses.

Abdulla Hashim, senior VP of business solutions at Etisalat, says: “Etisalat is committed to the public and private sector to create awareness about the multi-fold benefits ICT can deliver to business, economy and environment, through and virtualisation,"

US govt boosts efficiency

Some 44 new IT projects from 20 different government agencies will share in funding as part of the $502.4 million reinvestment into ICT efficiency, states ARN.

Projects range from e-mail archiving solutions to WAN optimisation and unified communications solutions.

These projects are expected to generate approximately $78.9 million in savings for the US government over the next four years, with an additional $23.9 million annually after that.

CA, Cisco simplify virtualised centre

CA Technologies is working with Cisco to provide data centre management tools for customers adopting Cisco's Unified Computing System platform, says CRN.

The companies unveiled the management tools at CA World, held in Las Vegas this week.

The updates to CA's management tools make it easier to help customers build a virtualised data centre and adopt some form of cloud computing.
