Etisalat to provide VOIP
Etisalat is technically ready to provide voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) services, pending the regulator's approval, says COO Ahmad Abdul Karim Julfar, according to MENAFN.
The COO pointed out that Etisalat's mobile penetration rate in the UAE has touched 150%, with more than 6.3 million subscribers by mid-December.
The company, as well as the government, denied any plans of opening up for foreign investments or any new issues.
VocalTec appoints sales VP
VocalTec Communications has appointed Chen Porat as VP for sales, reports Trading Markets.
The company said Porat replaces Edu Meytal, who is leaving the company after three years to pursue other opportunities.
Porat joins VocalTec from Comverse Technologies, where he spent over nine years in various management positions, overseeing both product and sales-related activities.
Vonage looking up
Jeffrey Citron, chairman, chief strategist and interim CEO of Internet phone carrier Vonage, says things are going very well, according to USA Today.
Ticking off a list of financial achievements, including 22 sequential quarters of revenue growth, Citron says he's more hopeful than ever: "I'm very encouraged about the future."
In the past 18 months, Vonage has battled and lost high-profile patent disputes with some of the US's biggest telecoms companies, including Verizon, AT&T and Sprint.
