Exactmobile has secured the mobile licence rights to deliver and distribute Rugby World Cup (RWC) 2003 wireless information and entertainment content in SA.
Exactmobile director Gavin Penkin says the licence gives the company exclusive rights for the distribution of any news or information on the event via SMS, MMS, WAP and mobile video.
"Part of our RWC offering will include info alerts via SMS. The alerts can be obtained by purchasing an Exactmobile RWC info alert pack in cellular stores for R29.99 or by buying it using one`s credit card on www.exactmobile.co.za."
Penkin says once the package has been bought, the user selects the relevant PIN number for the option they want and SMSs it to Exactmobile. Each user will receive about 50 SMSs over the tournament at a cost of around 60c an SMS.
"Users can choose to receive general information package including match previews and full time scores, a Springbok try alert package, a Springbok results package including previews, half time and full time scores or a breaking news package."
In addition to the info alert packs, Penkin says Exactmobile will also offer the official RWC mobile logos, group graphics, picture messages, screen savers and coloured backgrounds, which can all be downloaded off the Web site.
Users will also be able to receive high-quality photos, audio and video along with text write-ups, he says.
"In addition, we have set up a special RWC WAP site, which is linked directly to the International Rugby Board`s Web site giving instant access to RWC live scores, match files, schedules, team information, the record book and breaking headlines."
Penkin says that under the licence, anyone wanting to run SMS competitions or offerings will have to do so through Exactmobile.
