African Gateway Connection, the African distributor of Eurocom technology, announced today the launch of two high-performance and super-powerful notebooks, the Eurocom 8880E Dream Machine II and the Eurocom 5600D Monte Carlo II.
Both notebooks feature the latest in computing technology and are powered by Intel Pentium 4 processors up to 3.06GHz with 533 Front Side Bus and the new high speed USB 2.0 technology.
These new specifications bring Eurocom notebooks in line with Intel`s desktop computer counterparts. This has a direct performance benefit to Eurocom mobile users and fits within Eurocom`s philosophy of manufacturing true desktop replacement systems. The 533MHz FSB is a speed upgrade from 200MHz and therefore improves overall performance of the notebook by allowing significantly faster CPU and memory access. The USB 2.0 specification is the new high-speed USB standard and is the connectivity method of choice of the latest USB devices.
Design. Sleek and beautiful, the new Eurocom 8880E Dream Machine II and the Eurocom 5600D Monte Carlo II notebooks are a perfect solution for professional users who are looking for quality in design as well as power and features. The two new models offer customers excellent performance in an all-in-one fully configurable and upgradeable design. The 5600D model is the most complete desktop replacement notebook available on the market.
Power and graphics. Featuring a whole new 533MHz system bus architecture, the two Eurocom models support Intel Pentium 4 processors up to 3.06GHz. Powerful ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 graphics engine with 64MB DDR video SDRAM brings pictures to life on the very high contrast LCD screens: large 15.7-inch Super XGA with up to 1280 x 1024 resolution on the 8880E model and SuperXGA+ or UXGA LCD screen with up to 1600 x 1280 resolution on the 5600 model. Up to 1GB of 200-pin 266MHz DDR SODIMM DDR SDRAM coupled with the powerful graphics dramatically raises the bar for the systems` 3D performance. Over two hours of battery life with the primary battery, and a hot swappable secondary battery available on the 5600D model extends the usage time and ensures continuous performance.
Optical drives. Two optical drive bays support a choice of optical drives such as CD-ROM, DVD, CD-RW or DVD/CD-RW Combo. The two-drive combination allows for data backups and creation of extra copies of audio/photo CDs directly between the source CD and a blank media disk, bypassing the hard drive. Depending on your configuration choice, you can watch a DVD movie while burning a CD. An internal built-in 3.5-inch floppy drive is standard on the 8880E model, while on the 5600D the optional modular floppy drive is swappable with the second optical drive or a secondary battery.
Four hard drive bays. Both models take a standard 2.5-inch 9.5mm Ultra DMA ATA-66/100 hard drive at 20GB (4200rpm), 40 or 60GB (4100 and 5400rpm). The 8880E model is the only notebook on the market supporting up to four physical hard drives (each up to 60GB) offering a total of 240GB of storage capacity.
Keyboard. The keyboard on the 8880E notebook is a full 102-key desktop-like keyboard with separate numeric keypad. The 8880E notebook includes five built-in Easy Start Buttons and one button for instant retrieval of new incoming email messages. The 5600D model features three instant keys for Internet, e-mail and CD player. By simplifying common tasks, these extra buttons help users save time and increase productivity.
DJ function/CD player. The front panel audio DJ CD Player Control, with separate power switch, allows playing audio CDs or MP3s on both models even when the notebooks are shut off.
SD Memory Portable Storage and MP3 Player. A detachable SD Memory Portable Storage unit with a MP3 player module (available only on the 8880E model) allows for transferring of large files via USB between the notebook and other systems. The 8880E also features a Sony Memory Stick slot for swapping files with similarly equipped Sony devices, such as digital cameras.
TV tuner. An optional built-in TV-Tuner with a coaxial cable TV-in port (available only of the 8880E model) allows you to watch TV transmissions on the notebook.
Interfaces. Both notebook models come with four USB 2.0 ports (the latest USB standard), IEEE 1394 FireWire, 10/100 Fast Ethernet, 56K V90/V92 Modem on-board and a built-in antenna for 802.11a/b Wireless LAN. Standard ports are also offered: Serial and Parallel Ports, PS/2 and External CRT Monitor Port, S-Video for TV Out and Microphone, Headphone and SPDIF Port. CardBus PCMCIA and internal miniPCI slots are also provided.
