Most exhibitors at the telecommunications conference and exhibition, Tel.Com `99, which was on at Gallagher Estate in Midrand from 20 to 22 April, consider the show to be a success, saying that the event attracted a large audience and generated quality leads.
"Our aim was to have 7 000 visitors this year at the show and it looks like we achieved that. During the first two days we had 5 000 visitors and by midday on the final day we had close to 1 000 people through the gate," says Sarah Martin, media account manager for Prominent Marketing, which does the public relations for the event.
"Although the first day was very slow, the other two days picked up nicely with the last day being the busiest of the three," says Karl Keppke, international area manager for Hughes Network Systems.
On the quality of leads, Nicola Puchoedes, spokesperson for Sytec, notes that: "The visitors were either people related to the industry or people trying to get into the industry. The quality of people attending the show was therefore very good."
Daniel Lefevre, business development manager for Internet Segment for Compaq, says his company will definitely exhibit again next year. "The attendance has been good and the leads we have been getting were very good."
Arnus Slabbert of Siemens Telecomms Marketing Segment, says that Siemens will also definitely exhibit at Tel.Com again next year.
