Expand Networks, the leader in optimising WANs for branch office consolidation and virtualisation, has been positioned as delivering the fullest capability set, by Aberdeen Group, in its recent 'Optimising Application Performance over the WAN' Research Preview'.
The solution provider positioning was based on research into how organisations' WAN optimisation needs are changing from traditional bandwidth enhancement and application acceleration capabilities, to a more application-aware approach that integrates monitoring and QOS functionality, to enable visibility and control over all applications traversing the WAN.
The research also highlighted a need by organisations for a solution that addressed an increasingly mobile and remote workforce, as well as being conducive to virtualised environments - both operating in a virtual infrastructure as well as being able to accelerate virtualised applications. Expand's ability to address these changing and challenging market demands resulted in it being positioned as most market-ready of the 16 technology vendors reviewed.
“The WAN optimisation market is changing. With the ROI for WAN optimisation technology clear to many, organisations are now looking towards issues around performance and visibility. Expand Network's technology, with its enhanced layer 7 QOS capabilities, addresses these issues by providing capabilities for identifying performance bottlenecks and improving visibility into network and application performance,” said Bojan Simic, research analyst, Aberdeen.
The report found a 75% increase in the number of organisations that are concerned about delivering business critical data across the WAN in virtualised environments. Expand's virtualisation capabilities enable organisations to overcome these challenges. Its Virtual Accelerator solution with comprehensive VMware integration enables it to operate within a virtualised infrastructure, while its ability to accelerate virtualised applications such as virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) traffic. This capability makes the Expand solution unique in the marketplace.
The research also discovered that organisations' two top concerns for application performance management were how 'new applications will increase the consumption of network capacity' and 'lack of visibility'. The analysis carried out by Aberdeen Group recognised Expand Networks as the company most prepared to enable customers' desire to address acceleration, control, visibility, mobility and virtualisation capabilities.
“Being recognised as a leader in independent analysis from Aberdeen Group is pleasing for us, and acknowledges the fact that we believe we offer the most comprehensive WAN optimisation technology on the market today,” said Adam Davison, Corporate VP Sales and Marketing, Expand Networks.
“The findings regarding organisations' concerns around application performance, visibility and control, together with the need to give a consistent experience to distributed workforces, certainly chimes with the conversations we have had with our customers. The fact that we have addressed all these issues already within our single integrated offering, combined with our ability to operate in virtualised environments, gives us a real differentiation in the marketplace and a significant edge on the competition,” concluded Davison.
