Expected Intel price cuts slow sales
Global PC sales have slowed over the past few weeks as the market waits for Intel to announce new price reductions, says PCWorld.
The chip maker is widely expected to publish a new price list on 22 July that shows lower prices for microprocessors aimed at the desktop PC market.
The company regularly updates its pricing, but did not disclose when or how much prices will change, an Intel spokesman said.
Acer files counterclaim
Acer has filed a patent counterclaim against rival Hewlett-Packard as part of its response to two HP lawsuits, says Infoworld.
The counterclaim filed last week by Acer alleges HP has infringed its antenna and DVD-ROM head technology patents.
The HP lawsuits claim Acer has infringed 10 HP patents related to PCs. The PC vendor is seeking to block Acer PC imports to the US and is asking for compensation from Acer, payment of legal fees, and triple damages for alleged intentional violation of the patents.
