Extron Electronics, a leading international manufacturer of professional AV system integration products, is creating major talk on local soil with the recent opening of its new office in Johannesburg and its participation as exhibitor at Mediatech Africa. With offices around the world and long-standing support of the African ProAV market through the EMEA office in the Netherlands, the decision was made to establish a physical presence in South Africa where it will be able to increase support and provide easy access to training.

Extron will be represented at Mediatech by staff from the newly opened South African office, along with support from the EMEA office, and is most looking forward to introducing a wide range of products to the Africa ProAV market. Available at this year's exhibition will be the DMP 128 AT and DMP 128 C AT audio digital signal processors with Dante network connectivity from Audinate. Both DMP 128 models are 12x8 audio mixers featuring Extron ProDSP, automixing and I/O expansion capabilities. The DMP 128 C AT version also features AEC - acoustic echo cancellation. DMP 128 AT models feature a 56-input by 24-output expansion matrix, providing efficient scalability for creating larger audio matrices over a local area network using standard Internet protocols. A built-in, four-port Gigabit switch provides direct interconnection of multiple DMP 128 AT units. The award-winning DMP 128 Series offers a configuration approach to DSP that simplifies mixing, routing, conferencing and room optimisation. Quick and intuitive configuration using the DSP Configurator Software allows the DMP 128 to be installed in very little time, with easy-to-learn adjustments that can be heard in real time.

Extron is also pleased to be introducing the IN1608, an eight-input, HDCP-compliant scaling presentation switcher with four HDMI inputs, two universal analogue video inputs, and dual HDMI outputs. It also features two Extron DTP 230 twisted pair inputs and a DTP 230 output for extending HDMI, audio and bidirectional control signals to DTP 230 transmitters and receivers, each over a single CATx cable up to 230 feet (70 metres). The IN1608 provides the convenience of supporting local and remote displays with fast and reliable switching, and a high-performance scaling engine that converts all HDMI and analogue sources to the optimal resolution. Selectable output resolutions are available up to 1 920 x 1 200, including 1080p and 2K. The IN1608 also includes a host of audio switching and processing features. It is available as a standard model with two stereo audio outputs, the IN1608 SA, which adds a stereo 4/8 ohm power amplifier, and the IN1608 MA with a mono 70 volt amplifier. Together with flexible control options and many additional features, the IN1608 provides complete AV system integration capabilities.

The IN1606, a six-input, HDCP-compliant video scaler that includes four HDMI inputs, two universal analogue video inputs, and two simultaneous HDMI outputs will also be available at the Extron stand at this year's advanced technology trade show. The IN1606 accepts a wide variety of video formats, including HDMI, HDTV, RGB and standard-definition video. Its high-performance video scaling engine features 1080i deinterlacing, Deep Color processing, and seamless switching with support for up to 1 920 x 1 200 and 2K output resolutions. Enhanced audio features include six stereo inputs, fixed and variable stereo outputs, two mic/line inputs with ducking and 48 V phantom power, plus HDMI audio embedding and de-embedding. Designed for professional AV integration, the IN1606 offers a complete AV switching system with flexible control options including Ethernet, RS-232 and USB.

Mediatech visitors who are involved in corporate and commercial IT and AV system integration will find an array of interesting products on show at this year's advanced technology trade show. Mediatech Africa will take place at The Coca-Cola Dome, in Johannesburg, from 17 to 19 July, and will host a dynamic variety of brands and leading exhibitors.
