As part of a strategy to reinforce its commitment to the IT industry, EPSON SA has donated a range of printers to The Information Technology Association (ITA). The ITA is the official trade and employer body of the Information Technology Industry of South Africa.
"The ITA represents over 300 companies in the IT industry from SME, nationals to multi-organisations," says Adrian Schofield, president of the ITA. "As a service to our members, we offer conference facilities at the ITA`s headquarters in Johannesburg. The printers donated by EPSON will not only aid our Association with in-house printing jobs such as ITA information brochures, product literature, but also assist our members with the emergency printing of documents for meetings scheduled at our premises."
The ITA has an estimated 30 to 40 meetings scheduled every month, ranging from cinema style conferencing to round table meetings. "It often happens that there is a demand for printing high volume discussion documents up to 40 pages within a very short time limit," says Toni Quattrocecere, general manager at the ITA. "The printers donated to our Association aid us to do print jobs fast and effectively which, in turn, reflects on the professional standard of service we offer to our members."
According to Martin van Riet, pre-sales and technical support manager at EPSON SA, the decision to donate EPSON Stylus inkjet printers and laser printers, was based on the pro-active services the ITA, as a non-profit organisation, offers the local technology industry.
The Association works closely with the Government, consumers and other specialist organisations to keep at the forefront of new initiatives in the IT industry. One of the issues the ITA addresses, and of huge concern to EPSON SA, is the purchasing of grey market goods, explains Van Riet. "We are grateful for the ITA`s involvement to inform consumers of the disadvantages of purchasing these goods through its consistent engaging campaign," he says.
