Facebook moguls join Forbes list
Mexico's Carlos Slim has topped the latest Forbes magazine rich list, as his wealth grew by more than a third, reveals the BBC.
The telecoms magnate's fortune rose by $20.5 billion to $74 billion, again beating Microsoft founder Bill Gates ($56 billion) into second place.
Six billionaires connected with Facebook are now on the list, including Mark Zuckerberg and Sean Parker. They are joined by Facebook investors Peter Thiel and Yuri Milner, as well as co-founders Eduardo Saverin and Dustin Moskovitz, who is the youngest person on the list at 26.
Online losses drop
Online retailers and banks have welcomed the news that online banking fraud losses dropped by nearly a quarter last year, says V3.co.uk.
Internet and other card-not-present fraud losses also fell by 15%, although experts warned that threats persist.
The official figures from the UK Cards Association and Financial Fraud Action UK, both part of the UK Payments Administration, reported that online banking fraud losses totalled £46.7 million in 2010, a 22% fall on the 2009 figure of £59.7 million.
Obamas post anti-bullying video
US president Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama have posted a video on Facebook to promote a bullying prevention conference they will host at the White House, reports the Associated Press.
In a taped video message, the president says bullying should no longer be treated as an unavoidable part of growing up. He says schools and communities must be a safe place where children can thrive.
The conference brings together parents, students and educators to discuss ways to stop bullying.
Sony mulls social network movies
A Sony Pictures executive said yesterday that the film studio is "looking into" new Web distribution methods similar to the one revealed this week by rival Warner Bros Studios, according to CNet.
Warner Bros' home-entertainment division said on Monday that it will start renting movies via Facebook, starting with the 2008 hit Batman: The Dark Knight.
The offer is among the first attempts by a major media company to test the social network's potential as a distribution outlet.
