The Frontier Forum seeks to bring together thought leaders to engage on the topic of technology in Africa.

Research, strategy and investment firm Frontier Advisory will host its third annual new tech for new Africa conference at the IDC in Sandton on 23 July.

According to executive seminars manager Ross Parker, the event focuses on how technology is driving socio-economic development and what the and opportunities are for business and other stakeholders.

It aims to engage leaders on the topic of technology and the various tech platforms in Africa, Parker explains. And this year the event hopes to attract between 150 to 250 high-level delegates and decision-makers.

"Technology influences across industries and societies so there is a huge demand for information on the latest tech trends," he says.

"Africa is no different - the trend is arguably even stronger here," he says.

Parker notes that this year's conference has a mix of new and returning speakers.

The list of speakers includes:

* Aidan Baigrie; Client Partner for sub-Saharan Africa at Facebook
* Founder of CliffCentral.com, Gareth Cliff
* Brett Loubser, head of WeChat in Africa
* Brett StClair, chief jam creator at Money for Jam (M4JAM)
* Dr Solomon Assefa, director of Research - Africa, South Africa Lab at IBM
* Palesa Sibeko, co-founder, Inquisition
* Dion Chang, founder, Flux Trends
* Aki Anastasiou, Tech Commentator
* Euvin Naidoo, head of strategy, Barclays Africa, Regional Management
* Camille Agon, co-founder, WeThinkCode
* Murray Legg, co-founder, Webfluential
* Stephan Lamprecht, Venture Solutions - Innovation Management & Commercialisation, and Mark McCallum; CTO, director & head of Global Services Africa, Orange Business Services

Some themes to be addressed at the Frontier event include how mobile is changing the African consumer landscape - the view from Facebook, technologies from Africa for Africa: how new tech firms are catering for frontier and emerging markets and can technology leapfrog Africa's development gaps?
