Falcon Electronics Cape Town has launched its very own Fibre Termination Plant based at the Cape Town premises, in Woodstock.
“It's been the gradual evolution which started from the master plant based at our headquarters in Johannesburg,” says Clint Thorne, Cape Town Branch Manager. “Boasting a wealth of experience, it has also been the training ground, with months and months of extensive, hands-on training and strong mentoring programmes that we have the required skills to expand,” he added.
True to the core values of Falcon Electronics, the growth into the fibre market has been organic since the peak in the South African marketplace - spurred on by the 2010 Soccer World Cup, the increased demand around broadband fibre applications, and the increase in fixed-line and cellular telephone providers, has seen a drastic growth in demand across the regions.
“The Eastern Cape, with the regional office based in the heart of Port Elizabeth, has been an instrumental part of the infrastructure building blocks in the region. By pure determination and response to industry demand, the second active Termination Plant was borne. The growth in the region has increased month after month, and the sustainability in the region has shifted to a strong stance of unrivalled service and support, to many local infrastructure installers,” says Thorne.
The launch of the Termination Plant in Cape Town will have the best of both worlds, through the tried and tested - and the very latest - termination tooling and fibre bench top testing.
The Termination Plant will be focused around the specific and customised needs of its clients in the region. Some key indicators around efficiency in the data centre environment mean that even small concerns, such as reduced slack in patch cordage, will ultimately make a difference in the effects of 'in rack' cooling requirements. So what was previously only considered as cosmetic has actually become a serious consideration towards long-term energy savings.
“The pre-terminated and breakout cable market also has a considerable following in the region; having the adaptability to make custom length breakout cables will surely deliver a valuable service to our installers and end-users alike,” says Thorne.
The Termination Plant will have the capacity to deliver an emergency onsite repair by means of Fusion Splicing - just another dimension of client service and total piece of mind quality and backing reassurance. The service will further extend to optional OTDR testing and verification reports. Onsite light source and power meter testing is considered part of the standard emergency repair, and a team of skilled technicians with a broad spectrum of case studies to draw resources from, are able to apply the fastest uplink during crisis times.
A large selection of related fibre accessories is also readily available. Recessed and pre-assembled fibre panels in every configuration, along with labelling, cord management, and still the best 19-inch racking solutions available, provide a true end-to-end fibre solution in any category of the OM spectrum of fibre specifications.
“Above all, the art still remains in the detail - keeping abreast with the latest technological advancements in fibre cables, cordage and connector interfaces will always be a key focus; but at the heart of the operation is the attention to detail and the all-out ability to meet and surpass the expectations of our clients,” concludes Thorne.
“We pride ourselves in the Falcon tradition and so we bring to Cape Town - FibreNet, a focused and dedicated division for the fibre-optic market.”
