Falcon Electronics, a leading provider of communications connectivity solutions, today introduced Aten's new Media Distribution Solution (MDS) during the Aten Academy Road Show 2011 in South Africa.
Featuring an end-to-end digital signage/visual information management system under its Vancryst Professional A/V product series, this cost-effective solution efficiently distributes high-quality audio and video content over Cat 5e cable to multiple displays from a single input source. The Aten Media Distribution Solution consists of a VS1204T (4-port) or VS1208T (8-port) A/V over Cat 5 splitter, in combination with a VE170R or VE170RQ A/V over Cat 5 receiver.
The MDS solution is ideal for installations that require multimedia content to be delivered to multiple destinations. By using Cat 5e cable to connect the A/V splitter and receiver, the displays can be located up to 300m (1 000ft) away from the single input source.
The Media Distribution Solution supports high quality video with resolutions up to 1 920x1 200@60Hz. The VE170RQ A/V over Cat 5 receiver features Aten's patented Deskew technology, which supports the manual synchronisation of RGB signals and corrects colour phase and timing errors that occur over large distances.
“The digital signage market has shown an exponential growth since 2007 and we see it as a promising market. Being one of the key ingredients in the digital signage market, Aten's Media Distribution Solution offers a reliable stepping stone for companies who are planning to implement digital signage projects,” said Darrian Bhana of Falcon Electronics.
Bhana added: “The Aten Academy Road Show has enabled our customers to gain valuable insights into the new product offerings of Aten. South Africa is a vibrant market and we are confident that these new offerings will certainly benefit customers in the region.”
The Media Distribution Solution provides unique scalability and connectivity capabilities, allowing users the freedom and means to create a wide variety of high quality video display installations. Designers can install their displays at the most favourable and eye-catching locations, while discretely and securely deploying the control units in a separate, dedicated room for easy servicing and maintenance.
Aten's MDS is ideal for a wide variety of environments: retailers can increase selling power with in-store and shopping mall digital advertising; transport hubs can distribute real-time travel schedule information throughout their location; movie theatres can deliver high-quality content simultaneously throughout the theatre complex; and securities services can deliver essential financial news, stock prices, and reports in real-time.
The Aten Media Distribution Solution is available now from Falcon Electronics, http://www.fe.co.za.
