Fantastic 1, a leading messaging provider for mobile network operators in South Africa, today announced the completion of a major distribution deal with UK company ROK Entertainment Group for the provision of content-loaded memory cards for mobile phone play.

ROK have developed patent-pending technology which allows full-length films or music video albums to be stored on memory cards for play on compatible mobile phones, without the need for downloads or streaming.

"The technology, as well as the idea, behind ROK Player is amazing" said Nisaar Ally, CEO of Fantastic 1 "as now, for the first time ever, people will be able to watch an entire film on their mobiles whenever and wherever they want."

ROK have agreed to supply Fantastic 1 with a portfolio of titles ranging from movies through to music video albums and TV comedies and animations to include the world`s first ever full-length movie for mobiles - The Shawshank Redemption and Ministry of Sound`s Big Tunes music video compilation..

"We`re delighted with the agreement we have reached with Fantastic 1 to supply ROK into South Africa" reported Jonathan Kendrick, CEO of ROK "as we see it as an exciting, important and growing market for ROK Player."

With nearly 24 million mobile phones in use in South Africa, 80% of which are pre-paid, data traffic is growing fast and now accounts for 5% of all revenues for the network operators.

Speaking from the Umhlanga headquarters of Fantastic 1, Ally added "I`d like to be able to include some South African talent into the portfolio of titles we can offer in the near future and would invite local film and TV companies, record labels and artists to contact Fantastic1 if they want to be part of this exciting development in mobile content ".
