FBI overhauls tech infrastructure
The Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) CIO Zal Azmi has told News Blaze that IT governance is a key aspect of ensuring the organisation's technology overhaul is successful.
Azmi is in charge of the deployment of Sentinel, an intuitive Web-based information management system that will make it easier for the FBI to keep tabs on cases, and share and access information.
"There was a great deal of inside and outside scrutiny on the soundness of the programme and our approach. Processes were put in place - programme management discipline, life cycle development methodology, enterprise architecture, earned value management, IT governance process, security certification and accreditation - to put us and keep us on track."
Governance pocket guide released
To help UK and US companies meet the regulatory and legal requirements of IT governance, an infosecurity publisher has launched three pocket guides that equip the reader with the essential facts, reports Compliance Home.
Written by international security and governance consultant, Alan Calder, the IT Governance Pocket Guide provides a clear explanation of how IT underpins business and sets out the requirements and benefits of an IT governance strategy.
"IT governance is a crucial matter for business leaders to master and these pocket guides provide a succinct overview of the most important topics. In easily digested form, they enable the reader to focus on the key issues relating to their business, without needing to wade through reams of superfluous information," says Calder.
BMC, Planview tackle IT governance
Software developers Planview and BMC Software are in an alliance to facilitate integration between the BMC Remedy IT Service Management Suite and Planview Enterprise. The alliance will help both vendors compete more effectively against rivals CA and Hewlett-Packard, reports eWeek.com.
Although some integration currently exists between Planview Enterprise and BMC's Remedy Service Desk product, the alliance calls for deeper integration between the two systems and further integration across other parts of the BMC Remedy ITSM suite. The two vendors will co-sell and co-market the integrated offerings.
"The ability to take time and resource planning with operational time reporting on the Remedy side will give us a more complete vision of how work is done inside IT. We want to integrate project task work into the change management flow provided by BMC," said Patrick Tickle, CMO of Planview.
