Fedora adds virtualisation tools
The Fedora Project released version 11 of its Linux open source operating system, adding expanded hardware support, new software management and improved virtualisation, reports Computerworld.
The virtualisation features include improvements in the KVM stack that make it easier to maintain so developers can add features faster.
The Fedora Project, which now has more than 29 000 community members, releases a new version of the free operating system every six months.
HP simplifies virtualised infrastructures
HP has introduced shared storage solutions that improve business reliability and reduce costs by simplifying server virtualisation deployments, states The Nation.
The new HP LeftHand P4000 SAN solutions allow customers to ensure business-critical data is always available, and increase capacity utilisation by approximately 33% while reducing the costs of managing and expanding their storage infrastructures.
HP also announced the industry's first highly available shared storage solution within a virtualised blade server infrastructure.
Tripwire unveils virtualisation management tool
Software firm Tripwire has unveiled vWire, a VMware management tool designed to reduce downtime in virtualised environments by allowing administrators to monitor configurations and correlate data, states ZDNet.
The platform could dramatically reduce the time and risk involved in virtualisation, said Chris Ingle, a consulting director at analyst firm IDC.
"This is the first time it's been possible to do this kind of root-cause analysis and troubleshooting in a virtualised environment, although there are probably similar tools in the high-end suites from Tivoli and HP, if you know where to look," Ingle said.
