Faritec Group company FGH recently secured a contract valued in excess of R5-million with pharmaceutical company Pharmacare. The contract included the installation of two RS/6000 SP servers, running Baan application, and an Informix database, at Pharmacare's head office in Woodmead, Gauteng, and at the Port Elizabeth manufacturing plant.
AFGH was able to offer Pharmacare various specific advantages, including the installation's scalability to grow with the architecture; a single point of control, using the distinctive SP control workstation; high availability; and our understanding and extensive experience of the Baan environment" says Allan Timm, managing director of FGH. FGH also installed a HACMP, to facilitate the client's continuous processing requirements in terms of financials and distribution, as well as additional >nodes' or SMP processes, for the data warehousing facility.
Pharmacare has signed a services agreement with FGH sister company, Faritec Services, to offer assistance and training during the initial set-up period. Iain Gardner, IT manager for Pharmacare's Technical Operations division, says "Pharmacare is implementing Baan for approximately 375 concurrent users nationwide. In selecting FGH, a number of factors were considered in addition to the high availability and scalability of the system, including price versus performance and the technical support capabilities of the Faritec group of companies. Our choice has been well justified over the past year, as the technical support we've received from FGH has been of the highest order".
