The Connection Group share surged 53.5% to 330c as a result of finger-trouble this morning where the trader accidentally entered the wrong price. However, the JSE says the buyer will have to live with his mistake.
The share, which closed at 215c yesterday, rocketed to 330c this morning after one trade of 4 900 shares was registered at 280c and another trade of 300 shares was registered at 330c. Both trades took place at 10.47am.
The JSE says the trade will not be reversed. The trades will be recorded and included in the JSE`s daily statistics.
A spokesman says a correction is made only when a value of more than R200 000 is involved. A contra-trade also incurs a charge of R10 000.
"They did phone and ask for a contra-trade," the exchange says. "But the buyer is going to have to live with the mistake. I`m sure the sellers are happy."
Connection Group CEO Toni Fourie is out of his office until Monday and could not be reached for comment.
