After the success of the kick-off public event for First Tuesday 2.0, this month`s event will focus on education, youth and e-learning.
First Tuesday, initially an open forum for business leaders, was recently repositioned as First Tuesday 2.0, a paid members only "global thought leadership network".
Mike Wright, First Tuesday executive, says there has been a great deal of interest in the next event, which will take place at the Sandton Convention Centre tomorrow evening. "Education affects everyone," says Wright. "It is core to the fabric of the society that we live in, and there is so much innovation in education in SA at present that this is the ideal topic to be covered."
The event will start at 5pm with an interactive workshop hosted by clinical psychologist, transformation consultant, personal coach and Wits lecturer Steve Banhegyi.
Community and Individual Development Association (CIDA) director Taddy Blecher will host the keynote address, titled "The Success of CIDA". CIDA is a university in Johannesburg where disadvantaged students are reading their Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
Blecher will have a look at how the students can get outstanding pass rates using the latest distance learning technology and voluntary lectures from eminent business leaders.
The final function of the evening will be the VIP "thought leaders dinner" which will look at the status of education in SA. The "thought leaders" will be asked to contribute their intellectual capital by debating and completing a survey of the issues facing education in SA, and the future prospects for growth and innovation in this sector.
