First US CIO moves to SalesForce
IT World Canada reports.
Kundra has been both praised and criticised for his work, rapidly pushing federal agencies to use public cloud services rather than investing in their own data centres.
The Economic Times says Kundra managed more than $80 billion in technology investments for the White House. He has authored the Cloud-First policy, which now serves as a model for government IT organisations around the world seeking to increase efficiencies of ICT systems using fewer resources.
He was also credited for strengthening the cyber security posture of the nation and initiating an open government movement.
Kundra was blatantly critical of antiquated IT systems that slowed down or hampered federal agencies, Computerworld states.
He criticised expensive and useless IT security reports commissioned by the State Department, a paper-based filing system used by the government's personnel management agency.
SalesForce did not elaborate beyond Kundra's title about what he will be doing for the company.
