Fixed-mobile convergence grows

The world enterprise fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) markets have had stable growth despite the impact of the global economic slowdown, reports PR Newswire.

According to new analysis from global research firm Frost & Sullivan, FMC solutions have become one of the most sought-after technologies by IT departments to tackle escalating mobile costs, poor in-building coverage, less-than-optimal productivity, and integration of enterprise capabilities and applications with mobile communications.

The overall worldwide shipment of enterprise handset units with an FMC solution have reached 2.67 million activated FMC solutions in mobile devices; this is a 230% year-over-year growth.

The CS 2000 and SIP software engine are used by carriers seeking to support feature-rich voice-over Internet Protocol services, multimedia services and 3GPP IMS-compliant mobility.

The software features an intuitive user interface that supports instant messaging to Yahoo, AOL, MSN and Google and allows users to manage multiple calls from a single window.

Gigaset One enables users to integrate home and mobile Bluetooth phone systems into one system which can work with or without a landline.

Siemens Gigaset expects to sell one million products in the US over the next two years. The company also plans to roll out a complete range of cordless telephones products next year.
