Banking clients will receive unshaped ADSL data if they open or have an existing First National Bank (FNB) personal cheque account, subject to a qualifying monthly deposit.
The cheque rewards offer falls under FNB Connect - FNB's ISP service - and customers must sign up to the service to make use of the free bandwidth. Users can then either configure their router to FNB's settings (provided on the Web site) temporarily, while using the free bandwidth, or remain with FNB as their primary service provider.
“Of course, we would like them to stay with us, but there is no expectation on our part,” says FNB Connect operations manager Farren Roper. “FNB is completely prepaid so after using the free bandwidth, users can buy more or go back to another service provider.”
Roper says the offer is promotional, running until July 2011, although it may extend beyond this, depending on a variety of circumstances. New users will receive 1GB free for signing up with FNB Connect, and their cheque reward will kick in the following month. Existing FNB Connect users will start receiving their free bandwidth as of the 5th of this month.
