Foster-Melliar's run of top honours students continues

Johannesburg, 30 Jan 2007

Foster-Melliar, specialist in IT service management and ITIL, again boasts one of the top students in IT service management training.

Michael Adwera, one of Foster-Melliar's latest graduates, achieved a double distinction in the Manager's Certificate in IT Service Management in two subjects: Service Support and Service Delivery.

Adwera currently fulfils the role of IT Applications Support Manager with Unilever's regional IT application centre for Africa, Middle East and Turkey (AMET) and is based in Durban.

Adwera's team offers regional applications support to 12 countries in sub-Saharan Africa in addition to fulfilling the incident management role for the team.

"The Manager's Certificate in IT Service Management is an exceptionally advanced training programme and worldwide only enjoys a 50% pass rate. A double distinction on both modules of the course is an exceptional achievement. The Manager's Certificate in IT Service Management is structured to provide learners with the theory of IT service management and the know-how to implement this best practice across service support and service delivery," says Ian Butow of Foster-Melliar.

Says Adwera regarding his preparation for the exams: "I revised the study material provided in the course by actively reading through all the modules, summarising the material and then compiled acronyms for key concepts. In addition to this, I answered test questions to test my knowledge and recall."

"When writing the exam it is of paramount importance to carefully read all the questions, deciding which ones to tackle and then planning each question before answering them. I started work on the questions that were easier in my opinion in addition to re-reading the question to ensure that my trail of thought was still on track with what was required," explains Adwera.

When asked if he could offer any advice to future students, Adwera said: "Be flexible, relate your hard earned experience to the work and remember to place yourself in a managerial role within an ITIL-compliant environment when doing the course. Most importantly, manage your time effectively during the exam to allow sufficient time to finish all the questions needed," adds Adwera.

"I would certainly recommend Foster-Melliar to any student considering this course, as they have excellent qualified trainers willing to share their knowledge as well as allowing participants to learn from each other's experiences," explains Adwera.

"I plan on applying the knowledge to my daily work and ensuring the qualification aids my career growth," concludes Adwera.
