Samsung Mobile yesterday unveiled four new handsets that will become available between now and October.

Ian Shore, head of products at Samsung Mobile, said all four handsets are based on the key success factors of the popular D500 model.

The new product offerings are the E340, E530, Z500 and D600. The E340 and Z500 will be available in South Africa from mid-August, while the E530 is already on sale, Shore said. The D600 will go on sale in this country in October.

The Z500 is being marketed as the "smallest 3G handset in the world" and Shore points out that it contains more functions than any other Samsung phone to date.

This handset, as well as the D600, will be aimed at entry-level business contracts, says Shore. The E530, he added, will be aggressively marketed to entry-level contracts, as well as high-end prepaid users.

Justin Hume, Samsung Mobile marketing manager, said the group would launch a large-scale media campaign to promote the new products.
