Sahara Computers, in conjunction with Foxconn, a global manufacturer of IT motherboards, graphics cards, optical storage devices, workstations and servers infrastructure, will introduce to market a range of motherboards featuring AMD AM2TM technology.
This forms part of a global strategy and partnership between the two companies, established in 2005, to roll-out affordable, quality infrastructure to markets in South Africa and globally.
The central objective of this key partnership for both companies is to ensure a meaningful contribution towards addressing the local need for enhanced IT capabilities; processing performance offered by the new AM2 processor and improved speeds for data transfer, access to and use of advanced applications via access to the latest technologies.
AMD's AM2TM technology encompasses technology from developments such as the AMD AM2 Sempron, Athlon-64, Athlon-64x2 and Athlon-64FX CPU ranges.
According to the agreement, Sahara will throw its weight behind marketing and product awareness initiatives globally, this drive being predominantly aimed at promoting motherboards incorporating nVidia-based chipsets as well as KM890 chipsets.
"Foxconn is relatively new to the distribution channel, but in a small period of time it has already captured the attention of the market," says Gary Naidoo, deputy MD of Sahara. "We are pleased to assist in exposing to local users the advantage that this motherboard and processor technology combination offers; including the fact that it is focused on energy conservation, cooler running enhanced performance and quiet, effective operation."
The integration of quality components into our product offering and infrastructure through the incorporation of reliable, established brands such as AMD and Foxconn remain a key factor of Sahara's success and ability to offer globally and locally the best service offering for consumers' computing needs.
"Foxconn is a very reputable brand and its blend of passion for the market and passion for technology creation will translate into real value for our customers and partners. This venture will help to increase the market share of Foxconn brand locally, and Sahara brand locally and globally," says Naidoo.
"Reliability, stability of supply and performance are the key motivations behind a decision to integrate the AMD AM2 processor into Sahara's existing line of processors," he adds.
"We look forward to expanding our offering in the near future, with the ability to offer such a strong product and with partners like AMD and Foxconn we see a bright future indeed both locally and globally," concludes Naidoo.
More details on the AMD AM2 processor and the Foxconn AMD AM2 supporting motherboard can be obtained from Sahara or the respective Web sites of the partners.
