Fringland releases iPhone VOIP application
Fringland has released the world's first mobile VOIP application to be made publicly available for the Apple iPhone, reports NewsOXY.
The application will allow users to talk, chat and interact with other Fring users, known as Fringsters, and participate in online social communities by using their Apple iPhone WiFi connection.
A pre-release is available, developed in conjunction with Holon Institute of Technology academic research labs in Israel. The pre-release version is designed to allow users to learn about the Fring experience and to offer initial feedback before the full release. The full version is scheduled to be launched later this year.
Online VOIP directory opened
A new online services directory, FreeConnect, opened last week claiming to be Australia's first online VOIP directory service, states CIO Australia.
FreeConnect is a free portal for businesses to connect with potential customers via telephone, e-mail, SMS and VOIP. The service allows businesses to post contact and services information, photographs, payment options and company history.
Consumers can search FreeConnect's national online database by business type, keyword, location or service nature. Once an appropriate business is found, FreeConnect can contact the consumer and initiate a connection between them and the business.
Costco sells SME VOIP system
Costco is selling a small business VOIP phone system powered by Microsoft's Response Point software directly to customers through its Costco.com Web site, says CRN.
Quanta Computer's Syspine Digital Operator Phone System, which includes a base unit appliance with a four phone-line analogue telephone adapter, four desktop phones and Response Point phone system software.
Specifically designed for SMEs, Response Point is a full-fledged IP PBX system that doesn't require Active Directory or a DNS server, which helps small businesses minimise licensing costs.
