FrontRange Solutions, the developer of business software solutions, has announced the launch of its latest Client Lifecycle solution, Enteo v6 SR2, which helps organisations extend management of their IT systems to include secure zones and software virtualisation based on VMware Thinapp.
While demilitarised zones (DMZs) have become a key feature of many IT organisations' operations, managing the IT assets located in this secure area of the network has presented a number of problems. FrontRange Enteo Client Lifecycle Management solution eases the management of these vital systems without the need to change firewall or other security settings. This allows IT staff to maintain and update systems located in the DMZ far more quickly than was previously possible, ensuring a higher level of availability and productivity.
Enteo v6 SR2 also enables virtualised applications to be deployed and managed in the same way as physical operating systems, applications and patches. This enables organisations to more easily take advantage of the benefits of software virtualisation, while also eliminating the need to separate configuration management systems to manage both physical and virtual assets.
Andy Burton, Vice-President of the Infrastructure Management Group at FrontRange Solutions, commented: “As organisations' IT environments become more diverse, they need a standardised solution to handle all aspects of IT operations - regardless of where assets are located or whether they are physical or virtual. Enteo v6 SR2 enables organisations to use a single solution to manage all the mission-critical software assets across the enterprise, reducing the total cost of ownership and streamlining IT operations.”
Enteo v6 SR2 also introduces a wealth of additional new client management features, including support for Windows 2008 Server deployment, integration with the latest FrontRange ITSM solution and the ability to directly import IT asset data from the Centennial Discovery audit solution.
Manuel Urch, IT project manager at the Ingenieur Erich Pfeiffer GmbH, said: "We have used the new version for several weeks now and we are very pleased. We immediately noticed that many customer requests have been integrated in the new version. In addition, we are very happy with the support provided by FrontRange Solutions and the qualified support from our partner, abtis, throughout the whole project.”
Jochen Sch"otterl, managing director of the IT systems reseller abtis GmbH, added: "New features such as Business Logic Proxy, the possibility to set up an http depot and last but not least, the integration of the Thinstall technology for the virtualisation of applications are the best reasons to use Enteo v6 SR2 for the management of complex enterprise environments. The positive feedback from early adopters attests to the product's advanced maturity."
