The MICT SETA has recognised the Faculty Training Institute (FTI) as an Institute of Sectoral and Occupational Excellence (ISOE) in business analysis.
According to Benedict Motau, MICT SETA's marketing and communications manager, the process to receive this recognition can take up to a year, as it follows strict quality assurance guidelines, including auditing areas of excellence in business operation, finances and the quality of learning, to name a few.
Steve Erlank, MD of FTI, says this recognition leverages influence to support the growth of the profession in SA. “Our recent acquisition by listed company EOH gives us further opportunities to increase job opportunities and contribute to the scarce skills base of business analysis in South Africa.”
The ISOE recognition illustrates that FTI is not only a training company, but is also a thought leader in the field of business analysis, Erlank said.
According to Motau, ISOEs were conceptualised by the Department of Labour in 2007 with the aim of awarding organisational excellence in business sectors such as media, advertising and ICT, in the context of the National Skills Development Strategy (NSDS II).
There is widening global and local demand for business analysts in the MICT sector, says Motau. The recognition of FTI as an ISOE is critical to the growth of this industry, he emphasises.
Under guidelines from National Treasury regulations, which make provisions for SETAs, discretionary grants are allocated to fund ISOEs. Most of the MICT SETA's best-performing training provider organisations and employer organisations are invited to apply for ISOE accreditation and certification.
