FTI is once again proud to be a gold sponsor of the third Business Analysis Conference

By Phumeza Tontsi
Cape Town, 26 May 2014

Faculty Training Institute (FTI), a leading business analysis (BA), enterprise architecture, project management and testing training provider is a gold sponsor of BASSA 2014.

The Business Analysis Summit Southern Africa (BASSA 2014) is a conference dedicated to the profession of business analysis. It is being hosted by the South African Chapter of the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA - SA). The conference will be held in Johannesburg on 16-18 September. BASSA 2014 provides a platform for all business analysts and leading organisations to come together to debate and understand how the business analyst can drive business change, stimulating innovation and efficiency.

The business analysis landscape is changing. The economy is getting tougher, budgets are getting tighter. Organisations are looking for better returns on investment, more efficiency in project delivery, and more insight and innovation - and business analysis is at the core of this organisational change.

The conference theme is Business Analysis - The Next Generation. The challenge for professional business analysts is to refine and redefine the way in which they can deliver value and innovation into the organisation. The conventional role of the business analyst is evolving in ways that are both challenging and exciting. Not only must a Business Analyst be true to their roots, but they must also evolve in ways that ensure they remain relevant.

The event kicks off with a day of pre-conference workshops followed by the two day conference covering four tracks:

* Track 1: The Profession and Practice of Business Analysis
* Track 2: Business Analyst Specialisations
* Track 3: Tools, Techniques, Methodologies, Frameworks and Competencies
* Track 4: The Next Generation of Business Analysts

Professional business analysts must be masters of using the tools and techniques in their arsenal and doing what they have always done best: liaising with business to analyse business challenges, identify business opportunities and specifying requirements for new business solutions. But increasingly they must become change agents in a fast changing world and proactively find innovative ways to help organisations achieve their business gaols.

Typical delegates will include business analysts, systems analysts, business architects, business process specialists, industrial engineers, agilists, change managers, consultants and business product specialists. However, the breadth of topics will be of interest to delegates outside of a narrow definition of business analysis: past presentations have included topics on business process management, business architecture, innovation, change, thinking skills, business value and career planning.

The conference will also be attended by people whose roles intersects with business analysis, including managers, project and product sponsors, business people and service providers.
