
A technical glitch hit Absa fuel cards today, leaving many companies with large, nationwide vehicle fleets unable to process fuel transactions.
In an e-mail sent out this morning, Elizna Rautenbach, MD of Absa Vehicle Management Solutions, asked clients to note that “there is a problem with Absa fuel cards today - it seems all transactions are being declined”.
She added that Absa is “fully aware of this and are working on the problem to resolve [it] ASAP”.
Rautenbach urged companies to inform staff that if they have problems, they can contact the 24-hour online authorisation number on 0861 227 232.
“We can confirm that our fleet cards experienced some problems this morning,” says Happy Ntshingila, Absa's chief marketing and communication officer.
“But this has now been rectified and all systems are now operational.”
Absa would not elaborate on what caused the problem.
