Fujitsu intros SME Energy Star servers

Fujitsu is the first vendor to comply with the stringent Energy Star 1.0 rating for both its rack and tower servers, reports AME Info.

In the first phase, four Primergy server configurations will be Energy Star 1.0-certified, underlining Fujitsu's overall approach of innovation and efficiency to reduce carbon footprint and help small and medium enterprise (SME) customers cut power consumption and costs.

Energy Star is a well-known label that helps customers easily identify energy-efficient systems. In extending its programme to include x86 servers, Energy Star has set rigorous power management requirements.

SME breach guide released

While large enterprises often dominate the news coverage when it comes to data breaches, SMEs are targeted just as much, states ITWorldCanada.

An organisation representing Canada's chartered accountants has released a new guide aimed at helping SMEs protect the increasing volume of sensitive data they collect.

The Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants hopes the privacy and data publication will help smaller companies avoid the costly consequences of dealing with a data breach and give them the information they need to comply with privacy laws.

MNOs should focus on SMEs

Ovum has identified a significant opportunity for (MNOs) to influence and profit from unified communications (UC), according to Wireless Design & Development Asia.

Evan Kirchheimer, principal analyst at Ovum, comments, “Ovum has found that MNOs are not in the driving seat when it comes to mobile UC market development although there has been some early UC service launches, but for the most part many operators have held back."

Kirchheimer believes the key for hesitant mobile operators is to focus on SMEs, as MNOs have a natural advantage in their strong relationships with SMEs.
