Fujitsu launches fax to e-mail service

Johannesburg, 28 Apr 2005

Fujitsu`s Internet service provider (ISP) division has launched GetaFax for fax-to-e-mail and e-mail-to-fax services, allowing for real cost and time savings.

"The services eliminate the need for a fax machine and the associated costs with owning one, and anyone can utilise the service, proving they have e-mail," says Fujitsu`s head of VISP Practice, Bill Keenan.

The incoming FAX2EMAIL service gives users a free fax number that will enable them to receive incoming faxes as an e-mail. It works in real-time as receiving a normal e-mail. Users simply register online for a free 08664xxxxx number, and are then able to immediately receive faxes sent to them in e-mail format.

On receipt of a fax, the fax is e-mailed as a standard TIF file attachment. There is no cost for the incoming fax and users have the option of receiving a notification via SMS for incoming faxes.

This e-mail with attachment may be deleted if not required, saved and catalogued, forwarded via e-mail, or printed if desired. Real savings are achieved by eliminating the need for a fax machine or fax line, and it saves on maintenance costs, repairs, toner and having to electronically manage documents.

For outgoing faxes, EMAIL2FAX is available. This allows users to send e-mails with attachments to a fax machine anywhere in the world. In this case, users will be required to logon to www.getafax.co.za and purchase credits for the sending of e-mails to fax machines.

Should faxes be received from international destinations, then a 011-xxxxxxx number is required, and credits must be purchased at a cost-effective rate.

Home users, SMMEs and corporates alike can all benefit, regardless of their Internet service provider.
