Fujitsu notebook ships with Athlon processor

Fujitsu Siemens Computers is introducing the mobile AMDAthlonT XP processor in its AMILO consumer notebook range. The new AMILO A Series is a powerful desktop replacement for the consumer market and will be marketed with mobile AMD processors with speeds up to 1800+ The AMILO A is the first product within the notebook consumer portfolio of Fujitsu Siemens Computers using the next-generation mobile AMD processors.

The new AMILO A consumer notebook offers all the power of a desktop PC in a mobile package. The mobile AMD Athlon XP processor is the latest member of the mobile AMD Athlon XP processor family designed for high-performance notebook computing.

One of its outstanding features is AMD`s Power Now! Technology which minimises processor power consumption and maximises battery life, while delivering performance on demand, for the ultimate mobile computing experience. Combined with the RADEON IGP 320M integrated mobile graphics chipset from ATI this notebook is turned into an excellent multimedia device.

The ATI RADEONT IGP 320M graphics chipset offers high-performance 3D graphics and support for enhanced motion picture applications like DVD playback. It provides up to 128MB dedicated Video memory (depending on total system memory) and also includes TV-out support.

For large data transfers up to 400Mbits/sec, a FireWire (IEEE 1394) port is integrated. Three USB ports provide easy and quick connection to peripherals, external storage devices and video equipment. Customers can choose between two different TFT displays: 14.1-inch and 15-inch with XGA resolutions. The screen content can also be displayed on a standard TV or data projector through the S-Video port. The AMILO A has an integrated Floppy Disk Drive and is available with built-in DVD or Combo CD-RW/DVD drive. 2 SO-DIMM slots can be equipped with up to 1GB DDR SDRAM and for quick and easy communication a mini PCI modem and on-board LAN are included.

The system is supplied with Windows XP Home, Works Suite 2002, and Adobe Elements. The first shipment of the AMILO A to SA comes with a 1400+ processor and DVD ROM and is available from Makro stores from R14 999 (including VAT).
