Fujitsu PRIMERGY BX900 S2 blade servers add InfiniBand for unrivalled data centre bandwidth

Net bandwidth increase of more than 70% helps customers keep their competitive edge.

Fujitsu has announced gains of more than 70% in net bandwidth for its versatile data centre server line, the PRIMERGY BX900 S2. Blades for the “Dynamic Cube” system now include Mellanox Fourteen Data Rate (FDR) InfiniBand components, delivering unrivalled bandwidth improvements and making the PRIMERGY BX900 the first choice for data centre applications demanding the highest-speed network connectivity and lowest latency.

By adding Mellanox InfiniBand capability, the fastest networking technology available today, PRIMERGY BX900 S2 blade servers realise superior application response time and underline an enhanced ability to fulfil service level agreements, no matter how high the bandwidth load on a data centre, as InfiniBand-enabled PRIMERGY BX920 blades can achieve bandwidth of up to 3Tbps per chassis.

Combining InfiniBand with the highly flexible dense capacity of the PRIMERGY BX900 series, Fujitsu enables data centres to enjoy overall savings, through system consolidation from larger, less powerful server racks, and reduced floor-space requirements. Guaranteeing investment protection, Fujitsu PRIMERGY BX900 systems are fully backward compatible with existing data centre hardware.

The latest innovation in a five-year partnership between Fujitsu and Mellanox, the introduction of FDR InfiniBand, means that PRIMERGY BX900 blade systems are particularly suited to cloud computing, database, financial services, virtualisation and high-performance computing, where the highest performance, efficiency and scalability are at a premium.

Fujitsu's PRIMERGY BX900 S2 blade servers with Mellanox FDR InfiniBand components start shipping in April 2012.
