Fujitsu Siemens Computers announces final results for fiscal year 2002/3

Fujitsu Siemens Computers achieved a pre-tax profit before tax of EUR8 million for the 2002/2003 financial year running from April 2002 to March 2003. This exceeded the pre-tax profit forecast of EUR4 million. Revenue was nearly flat at EUR5,337 million, compared to EUR5,434 million in the previous year.

The company achieved an operating profit of EUR63 million for the full financial year, an improvement of EUR33 million over the previous year and of EUR7 million over forecast. Operating expenses reduced by EUR86 million over the previous year.

"Despite the difficult market conditions prevailing in the IT sector, Fujitsu Siemens Computers managed to achieve very positive results," said Mark Wilson, Managing Director of Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "The results are a positive reflection on the group`s product mix and and show that Fujitsu Siemens Computers are on the right path."

In SA, Fujitsu Siemens Computers managed to achieve 73% revenue growth in euro.

"Set against a backdrop of an overall decline in the IT market for the year, these results are testimony to the outstanding efforts of our entire team," said Wilson. "Growth was consistent throughout the , corporate reseller, Africa and distribution sectors. Our aim is to continue our growth strategy targeting increased market share through maintaining our focus on these sectors. Additional focus areas for the forthcoming year include initiatives in the SME sector through a focus on the distribution channel, a push into the high-end PRIMEPOWER marketplace and a campaign aimed at growing our reseller base."
