Fujitsu Siemens Computers today reported its financial results for the fiscal year 2007 (FY07). From April 2007 to March 2008, the company increased its profit before tax by 15% from 91 to 105 million euros. The company recorded just above 6.6 billion euros in revenue, which is a decrease of 4.9% reflecting the company's strategic business changes and the difficult market environment.
Over the last 12 months, revenues have been affected by the strategic shift in the company's structure and portfolio. Revenue has been negatively affected in areas which were foreseen and expected but also in areas outside the company's control.
For example, the revenue stream from the hardware maintenance business has been pro-actively shifted to partners and product lines such as TVs and PDAs have been removed from our portfolio. Forces outside of our control such as the impact of a strong euro, and the strong downward pressure on the average selling price have further impacted our revenue situation.
Focus on PRIMERGY servers and Mobility products continued to reap rewards with the x86 server business being confirmed (together with Fujitsu) as the fastest-growing vendor among the top five in the worldwide server market with 19.8% growth in the x86 server market in Q4 2007**. In Mobility in Western Europe Fujitsu Siemens Computers grew above the market in the commercial notebook segment in Q4 CY07, achieving the highest growth among the top 10 mobile vendors with 45% year-on-year and growing above the market in 12 countries***.
The consumer market in Europe has been a battleground with prices driven down substantially. Fujitsu Siemens Computers will in 2008 launch a new strategy: a complete new design language for our consumer range, raising the bar for competitors in terms of design and increasing the company's brand-value in the consumer market. In addition, we will approach the end customers with a targeted and clearly focused approach.
President and CEO Bernd Bischoff said: "Over the last year we have re-built our company to become the leading European IT infrastructure provider. The building work is now mostly over but our new face to the customer, our new identity has to be lived across our company. This is why our major investment in the current fiscal year and beyond will be in supporting and enabling our people to realise our company vision. And: Where we invest, we grow."
Bischoff concluded: "In the last few months we have seen some major long-term wins for our managed services business but of course these are not yet reflected in our revenues. They are clear proof-points for us of our growth potential and that customers are increasingly turning to Fujitsu Siemens Computers to serve them in their business needs. Over the next three years the company aims to increase services revenue significantly, capitalising on the formation of an integrated sales force and the definition of an industry-leading portfolio."

** Gartner year-on-year growth in x86 server, unit shipments, Q4 2007 compared to Q4 2006, worldwide
*** IDC year-on-year growth, in the business mobile segment, in EMEA (excluding PDAs)
