Fujitsu Siemens Computers has announced its "easyXchange" mail server and storage consolidation solution. EasyXchange combines key building blocks to provide all sizes of organisations with a range of small, medium and large configurations to meet their specific requirements.
All building blocks are tested as complete configurations in the laboratories of Fujitsu Siemens Computers in order to ensure a seamless interoperability. This comprehensive know-how is now available for customers in order to reduce the implementation risks of mail server consolidation projects, to speed up the deployment time, and to achieve a faster return on investment.
Based on Windows Server 2003, Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 and Microsoft`s messaging and collaboration platform, easyXchange comes with Fujitsu Siemens Computers` Intel-based PRIMERGY servers and best-in-class storage products including its FibreCAT range and Legato`s Networker BusinessSuite. Supporting all the essential features of mail server and storage consolidation, the leading European computer company thus provides a complete solution, offering content storage and messaging, automated backup and information protection.
As a Rapid Deployment Partner for Exchange Server 2003, Fujitsu Siemens Computers offers first experiences and best practice methods stemming from its very own in-house Exchange migration.
Customised building blocks for mail server and storage consolidation
Rising e-mail volumes and the tendency towards increasing business-critical computing content in the messaging store is a huge challenge for corporate IT departments. Overflowing mail servers can lead to performance shortfalls, downtime and rising costs. An interruption in e-mail service can directly interfere with business processes, with the result being a potentially negative impact on company performance.
A straightforward consolidation strategy for mail servers and storage can help to ensure availability and increase performance while at the same time reducing costs and complexity. The best remedy available is easyXchange, which reduces backup and recovery times from hours to minutes. Furthermore, this proven solution enables users to increase application and data availability. And with the help of this innovative offering, users are able to establish a flexible mail infrastructure to support enhanced Exchange operation.
"This solution provides a range of configurations and a choice of availability levels to meet the individual requirements of enterprises of all sizes," said Sean Wainer, Product Manager, PRIMERGY products at Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "This gives customers the ability to better manage mail content throughout its entire lifecycle."
"Our Exchange 5.5 customers are increasingly interested in exploring how server consolidation can help them reduce IT spending on server maintenance and shift those cost savings to new projects," said Kevin McCuistion, Group Product Manager for Exchange. "We applaud the work Fujitsu Siemens Computers is doing to provide our mutual customers with a new consolidation solution built on Windows Server 2003 and Exchange Server 2003."
Mail consolidation in action
Fujitsu Siemens Computers has recently completed the first phase of its own major Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 consolidation project to redevelop an internal Exchange infrastructure. With offices around the EMEA and over 7 000 employees, the company handles a massive quantity of e-mails daily. The launch of Microsoft`s new Exchange Server 2003 solution - which includes key functions for consolidation - led to Fujitsu Siemens Computers` decision to consolidate its mail infrastructure consisting of 60 servers in about 40 locations on two core Exchange Server sites with less than 10 servers.
The results of the project speak for themselves, with the company`s IT department estimating overall cost savings of about 40%. Fujitsu Siemens Computers has therefore taken this proven approach and used it to create easyXchange.
