Oracle unveils data model

Oracle has introduced a standards-based retail data model for delivering analytics through the data warehousing software within the Oracle database, says Intelligent Enterprise.

The industry-specific schema is also built for the Hewlett-Packard Oracle Database Machine and the HP Oracle Exadata Storage Servers. The data model, which includes embedded analytics, is available and downloadable from the Oracle Technology Network.

The data model in conjunction with Oracle's data warehouse software provides analytics meant to help grocery stores, specialty store chains, mass merchants, convenience stores and multi-channel retailers make better business decisions, according to Oracle.
