Fujitsu's PRIMERGY server sets groundbreaking SPECpower benchmark

Mono-socket PRIMERGY models also certified for ENERGY STAR 1.0, underlining cost-savings, efficiency and flexibility.

Fujitsu's PRIMERGY TX150 S7 all-round mono socket server is the world's most energy-efficient in its class, setting a new SPECpower ssj2008 world record and achieving ENERGY STAR 1.0 family certification.

The groundbreaking energy consumption result, in line with benchmark testing guidelines established by the independent body SPEC, underlines how Fujitsu continues to strengthen a cornerstone of its Dynamic Infrastructure Portfolio with PRIMERGY servers that truly deliver new levels of performance, innovation and efficiency.

The recently launched PRIMERGY TX150 S7 tower and rack-mountable PRIMERGY RX100 S6 mono-socket servers - which have also achieved ENERGY STAR 1.0 family certification - are designed by Fujitsu as cost-optimised all-purpose servers that provide high performance but also minimise environmental impact, through advanced energy efficiency.

The servers are ideal for use by small and mid-size businesses, and by larger enterprises in non mission-critical infrastructures. Since servers comprise a major part of a data centre's overall power consumption, deploying more energy efficient machines can be a vital strategy to reduce total data centre energy consumption and lower operating costs.

Validating its eco-efficient architecture, the Fujitsu PRIMERGY TX150 S7 mono-socket tower server has set a new SPECpower ssj2008 best-in-class result of 2187 ssj_ops per single Watt of electricity. The SPECpower ssj2008 benchmark has been developed by the Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation (SPEC) to independently evaluate the power and performance characteristics of volume server-class computers.

Fujitsu's new SPECpower best-in-class result for the PRIMERGY TX150 S7 pushes the limits for a mono-socket server further than ever, and demonstrates that the systems can be used for even more sophisticated purposes previously out-of-range for mono-socket machines, such as a virtualisation host or database server.

Furthermore, ENERGY STAR 1.0 family certification demonstrates that these PRIMERGY rack and tower models meet the stringent criteria set by the US EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), which established Energy Star standards. PRIMERGY servers meet the requirements for enhanced overall energy efficiency through advanced, more energy-efficient power supply units (PSUs), integrated power consumption management, improved motherboard layouts, enhanced component selection and Fujitsu's Cool-Safe design for airflow.

ENERGY STAR 1.0 family certification provides Fujitsu's partners with increased flexibility in offering their customers a larger variety of certified configurations, guaranteeing custom-built energy-efficient systems to best fit end-customer needs.
